About Kerry

Kerry Skemp, internet cowgirl, has been reading since the age of three, and writing nearly as long. A love of learning led her to Reed College, where fabulous professors exposed her to new worlds of thought, and a love of Macs led her to work at Apple Computer in Austin, Texas, following graduation from Reed. Wanting to further explore writing, Kerry joined on with Vertive, Inc., where she was exposed to the pagerank-obsessed wonderland of SEO. She moved to Boston to study writing at the graduate level at Emerson College.

Kerry currently works at Pearson Custom Publishing and is open to freelance assignments focused on technology, sustainability, feminist perspectives, and the arts. Outside of reading and writing, Kerry enjoys all things equestrian, egalitarian, and exuberant. A Wisconsinite by birth, she is a Texan at heart. Even while hacking her way through the urban jungle of Boston, she hasn't lost sight of the Hill Country.

About the Site

An evolution from a Wordpress site (now closed) that Kerry began in 2007, KerrySkemp.com originated as an assignment for John Rodzvilla's graduate electronic publishing course at Emerson College. Kerry wrote the original code herself. Design improvements are in progress. Some fonts from Misprinted Type. The title was inspired in part by an xkcd comic.
